Railway industry is fancy: Hop On!

Rail transport is becoming increasingly important. To put it even more succinctly, rail transport is crucial for Europe to be able to meet its sustainability and climate change commitments. Companies and citizens are increasingly looking for greener, safer and more sustainable transport solutions.

This offers great opportunities for the railway sector. The railway industry has high ambitions to help achieve the EU’s sustainability targets. The rail sector therefore introduces innovative and technological solutions like robotisation and electrification.

This requires people with the right knowledge and ideas. The person waiting on the platform for a train and then gets on the train does not see the fancy railway industry hidden behind the system enabling the train to run. The few that do know, often have a corny image of the railway sector. Not exactly a sexy industry where you’d like to work. Yet, the railway industry is an industry where technology plays a major role. Without using the latest technologies it would not be possible keeping the railway lines safe and available.

Hop On For Our Planet campaign

Time to change this image! Especially since attracting young people is necessary for the future-oriented sector. More people from Generation Z should be enthusiastic about the rail sector. And the experts are not forgotten either.

For this reason, UNIFE (Union of European Railway Industries) has initiated the Hop On For Our Planet campaign. Large companies including Bombardier, Siemens, Alstom, as well as Strukton Rail and its Italian sister companies CLF and Sifer are joining forces for the purpose of improving the reputation of the railway industry and to strengthen its public image among young people (think Generation Z), as well as experts. The idea is to generate a warm feeling for the railway sector among more of today’s and future employees.

Sustainable industry

By following this campaign, people will learn more about how technical innovations can lead to sustainable solutions and – even more important – how they can become part of this. An open invitation to discover what the railway industry has to offer. The campaign focuses on France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the Netherlands.

The campaign will start off on Wednesday 21 October. During the five-month campaign, various social media posts will be linked to #HopOnForOurPlanet throughout Europe. The aim is to reach as many people as possible by sharing videos of the ‘faces of the industry’, a campaign video, banners and factsheets, and by organising a digital event on various channels. Keep an eye on Strukton Rail’s social accounts and help spread the message!
