From Monday 28 to Sunday 1 July, Strukton worked on behalf of RET on the switch and rail renovation at metro yard ‘s-Gravenweg in Rotterdam.
Last Sunday at 13.20, the rails were back in operation safely, unrestricted and without any residual points.
The work mainly consisted of replacing a switch complex consisting of twelve switches 1:9 and 160 m ballasted track. Various track connections were also replaced, including ballasted track (around 130 m) and concrete track (around 50 m).
Within the renewal area, the bottom and top layers of ballast were renewed, the third rail was replaced and Strail was used for the current concrete crossing. Furthermore, alignment maintenance will be performed on eight stabling tracks and the platforms in between.
Integrated collaboration
During the project, the Strukton companies (Strukton Rail, Kabel, Milieutechnieken and Molhoek-CCT) worked together with Dura Vermeer, RET Technische Automatisering and HeatPoint.
“Over a period of 5 weeks, a lot of work was done by Strukton and all the subcontractors. Your contribution made sure that the work was performed safely, that no significant complaints were received from the surroundings and that the technical challenges were resolved.”
