Strukton awarded contract TenneT RenSec Prio 2 Enexis

On 24 November, TenneT awarded the provisional contract to Strukton Systems for five stations in the Enexis area pursuant to the TenneT framework contract EU-207.

On 24 November, TenneT awarded the provisional contract to Strukton Systems for five stations in the Enexis area pursuant to the TenneT framework contract EU-207. 

This involves the overhaul of secondary installations of the 110-150 kV stations in Almelo Tusveld, Dedemsvaart, Emmen Weerdinge, Groningen Van Heemskerkstraat and Nor, including the associated neighbouring stations. These projects are being performed in compliance with a UAV-GC contract. The contact was signed by both parties in mid-December 2017. Initially Strukton Systems had already been awarded the framework contract EU207 and the first five stations in the Stedin project. Now five TenneT stations in the Enexis area have been added.

The reason for these overhaul projects is that TenneT wants to safeguard supply and disconnect its stations from the installations of the Regional Grid Operator (RNB). As a result of the Network Management Act, TenneT will be responsible for the high voltage, while RNB will manage the medium voltage. Often, the security and control panels of both high and medium voltage are in the same building. TenneT now wants to separate these installations both physically and operationally from those of the RNB. These secondary installations will be housed in a prefab concrete building where possible. The related civil engineering, tertiary and telecom work are also included in the scope of this project.

Plug-&-Play
What makes the contract so unusual is that these are major renovations, during which the stations involved must continue operating as normally as possible. Because these are usually complex installations, with the technology dating from the 1980s or earlier, good preparation is vital. Furthermore, the conversion period (VNB) must be kept to a minimum. Strukton has chosen a plug & play concept in its action plan, whereby all protection and control panels will be tested in advance as a combination and all components wired on plugs wherever possible.
